Harriet Ann Jacobs was born on February 11, 1813, an American novelist, fugitive slave, abolitionist speaker and reformer. Jacobs' particular effort, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, published in 1861 in the assumed name Linda Brent, was one of the primary autobiographical narratives about the great effort for self-determination and liberty by womanly slaves and an explanation and description of the sexual exploitation they suffered.
