The movement of skepticism attacked any person or belief that claimed absolute truth. They had much in common with the sophists in their view of truth. Since they felt disillusioned by the world they decided no to believe in anything - much like the Nihilists of today. This school of thought is still strong today. Cynicism encouraged anarchy and revolution since they thought social conventions and the laws that guide society are useless.
