State of Britain Governed Using a Process of Governance

Introduction

There is no state or country in the world that is not being governed by governing party. These parties create policies and mandates which serve as laws for its citizens. They are also responsible for determining the fate as well as the future of the nation. The people responsible for their creation need to be competent if they are only then can their nation survive in this world. The concept governance was lain down by the Greeks themselves. It is a process as old as the human history and civilization itself (Victoria, 2011, Pp. 200-205).

The literal meaning of governance is the act of governing. It relates to the decisions that are defined the granting of power, and the verification of performance. To keep it simple, governance is the process of making as well as implementing decisions, while government is the body which uses or employs the process of governance.

Discussion

The process of governance entails the creation and implementation of decisions for the good of the nation. While its analysis includes all the informal, as well as, formal factors and actors involved in it. The difference between governance and the government is that governance is the act of governing, while the government is the body that is responsible for governance. The first is the process while the latter is the vessel.

Good governance is a difficult task. There are a variety of different forms of Government, meaning that a variety of different style of governance e.g. Democratic, Autonomous, Socialist, Capitalist, Federalist and many more. All of these forms of government have been active in the world at one time or the other. The measurement of effectiveness of Government is done by the level of prosperity of its citizens and the overall progress of the country.

Governance in Britain

The rule of governance shifted from the Crown to the Parliament during the reigns of James II of England and James VII of Scotland. Over the years more and more powers had shifted towards the Parliament from the Crown till the modern day Government in its present form was created (Bulmer, 2002, Pp. 101). The government of Britain tries to explore the rights and responsibilities it has over the people of Britain and that how can it work in a better way to shape up good relationships between the people of the country (The Governance of Britain, 1997. pp. 6). The government also works for the modernization of the role of executive in the country. It makes policies that ensure that the government is accountable to the people of the country.
