The Good Luck Smiling Cat by Phil Garrison is about a cat Boogie who sprints in front of a vehicle and inhabits to serenely lick her paws on the opposite edge of the street. She crawls under the vehicle hood where the engine is still moderately hot and doesn't even misplace the end of her tail. She gets shot in the ear with a BB cannon and endures - more or less intact.
