The topic chosen for the project planning and development is the Geography Curriculum in the United States. The significance of studying geography is tremendous and its incorporation in the curriculum and syllabi of the education institutes carries great worth. It has been shown by the surveys that the students in the United States have been left with much room for improvement with respect to their knowledge in Geography. In many more situations, there has been a decline in the knowledge of geography amongst students over the passage of time. This accounts for the fact that many of the students in U.S. are unable to locate provinces, cities, territories or read maps or the physical features (Pattison, 1990). This poses a great threat to the status of knowledge in the United States in the entire community of the world.
Geography is a subject that teaches an individual to understand the world in different viewpoints. Through this subject, the students learn to read maps, understand and interpret the geographical scales and information over it on global and local levels. Moreover, it enables them to utilize the data from different graphs, charts, tables, text and maps in order to solve problems and recognize patterns. It makes the students smart enough to integrate patterns from all areas of sciences and humanities and implement these concepts to find solutions to the problems of local and international prominence.
The teachers in the American schools are still following the old methods of teaching and same curriculum which is based on providing the students only the basic education regarding Geography of their own country and/or of the world (Bonnett, Alastair, 2008). This trends needs to be restructured and changed so that the students are made to be better professionals and service providers in future. They can see the wider scope of knowledge and profession in order to meet the upcoming challenges in the future. Thus, there exists a dire need for the modification and restructuring of the Geography curriculum of United States in all the academic institutions.
The current paper undertakes to develop a Geography Curriculum plan for the United States. It incorporates the Goals-Risk Summary, Stakeholder Analysis, Work breakdown Structure and IPO Analysis.

The major foals of preparing the Geography Curriculum plan for United States is to concentrate on what the students need to know about the geography. The curriculum planning, instructions, and methods of student assessment will be linked with the wider definition of the content-focused standards of learning.
This curriculum is also intended to engage the students and teachers in intellectual and authentic work supported through the use of resources. It would involve a rigorous and purposeful way of teaching Geography to the students, and inculcate in them the skill and knowledge which is required to take them to the higher standards in future.
