GENETIC CLONING

Genetic Cloning

Introduction:

The genetic cloning has always been a form of attention to everyone. Every other day, the media highlights the new and improved development in the field of genetic cloning. The fundamental concept of cloning is to create/develop a clone intentionally through standard format procedures. The below report discusses the genetic cloning to human population and animal community. The report also covers in detail the benefits derived from this matchless development of scientific engineering.

Discussion:

Genetic Cloning to Human Population and Animal Community:

The process of genetic cloning is aimed at producing a same or near about same replica of the original one by using DNA of person, animal, plant or even bacteria through highly complex genetic engineering. The true actual genetic cloning produces an exact same genetic twin of the original living organism.

The scientists of genetic cloning has pointed out the fact that the clone has the same characteristics of the original genes like if the original has any serious disease, then the clone would also has to suffer from that disease. The history of genetic cloning is very old.

The first ever clone was brought into the news in 1800, when the scientist Hans Dreisch created the first animal clone. Also in 1902, scientist, embryologist Hans Spemman developed a clone of salamander. There were no such major developments till 1951 after which a team of scientists at Philadelphia in Rogers Briggs lab develop a frog embryo.

This was the significant development and the techniques used at that time are continued to use today with little modifications in it. The extra ordinary efforts of scientists resulted in the creation of cloned lamb in 1996 named Dolly. The creation of dolly was long and highly tough experiment that took near about 277 tries to produce it.

The creation of Dolly was highly commendable for the genetic scientists because of their endless and matchless efforts and time to give new dimensions and thoughts to the genetic sciences. The Dolly's birth compelled those who are against the cloning to realize the ground realities and accept the facts that cloning can be done with more improve and efficient ways (Lederberg, 1966).

It is also believed that errors in the cloning process or mishandling the things may lead to higher death rates, abnormality and disability in living organisms.

Cloning techniques have been used for cloning animals for many years where large numbers of animal have been cloned including sheep, goats, cows, rabbits, pigs, cows, mice and a gaur which were cloned using the nucleus transfer technology.

But also the attempt to clone certain species were remain unproductive because of the fact that the transfer of nucleus is a harrowing process which requires further advance skill set for the successful cloning of certain species (Stanley, 2000).

How Cloning can be done:

As the concept of cloning is very old, therefore today scientists have more improved and advance scientific procedures for cloning purposes and are in a continuous race to develop more sophisticated and newest methods to safely clone all types of ...
