Introduction

Whether at an individual, national, or global level, a core issue that challenges our social progress is gender inequality, that is the unequal power afforded males and females due to the different roles assigned to them by society. It most often negatively affects women. Although men and women share the same space it is as though they live in different worlds. Throughout history, women have had fewer rights and opportunities than males. Gender inequality retains back the growth of persons, the development of nations and the evolution of societies, to the disadvantage of both men and women (Amnesty International, 2008, p. 100).

The leading factor of gender inequality changes the social context of organizations, which incorporate the services of either gender in the attainment of organizational objectives. Given a fondness for young men over girls that numerous male-dominated societies have, gender inequality can manifest itself. Take into consideration parent's preferences for their newborn to be a boy rather than a girl. With the availability of modern techniques to conclude the gender of the fetus, sex-selective abortion has become common in many countries (Aikman, Unterhalter, 2007, p. 18).

There are a lot of issues that need to be resolved if the world wants to attain gender equality. Only treating women in the same way as men are treated is not the solution. A number of ways have been suggested to solve this issue and now is the time for authorities like the United Nations to take a stance on this issue (Bernard, 2004, p. 10). Every country has its own human rights commission which should also look into this matter and work towards it. This issue is more serious in the developing countries as compared to the developed countries and needs to be resolved very soon (Barker, 2005, p. 190). There are a lot of ways through which gender equality can be achieved, and a few of them are discussed in this paper.

n all societies of all time, adults have seen the need to perform three essential activities:

1. Productive work: that is social, collective, whereby goods are produced together constitute social wealth. The way this work is organized depends on the historical conditions of each community, leading to different modes of production that were verified throughout history (slavery, feudalism, capitalism) (Booth, Stromstad, 2003, p. 201).

2. Domestic work: that is individual, are met by their own daily needs, such as the purchase of daily supplies, food preparation and hygiene and maintenance of housing. This kind of work, by the very conditions of its existence, because it originates in the most basic needs of people, transcending social mode of organization adopted by each community, although not independent of the mode of production, because people who designates the usual socially imposed for its realization depends on the mode of production (domestic work is in charge of slaves, servants, ...
