Introduction

This research paper will attempt to present an elaborative exploration on the history of gambling law in Malaysia. This will incorporate a consideration of the existing regulations and guidelines on gambling, offences and penalties for gambling; as well as the development of an insight into the legal issues in Malaysia pertaining to gambling and the manner in which this is affected by the jurisdiction of federal and state government in regulating gambling law and governing law. Furthermore, the discussion will also incorporate an explanation of the aspect, which holds that a Muslim resident not allowed gambling and if gambling is to be punished under law. In order to do so adequately, the discussion will give attention to the controversies between federal government and opposition party in their move to legalize gambling, the history of casino in Malaysia and regulations and guidelines on gambling inside casino in venting. In the same vein, other relevant areas that will be given attention pertains to the current issues pertaining to move to legalize sport betting and the future plans by government to legalize gambling.
