Abstract

In this paper, the Forensic Science has been discussed, it is basically collection of scientific procedures that is applicable whenever a crime is conducted and to provide evidence when a crime has been committed and also tells us how the crime could have been committed. In this paper, we have also discussed about how accurate is the popular media representation of forensic science. This paper provides with the complete knowledge of forensic research done so far.

This paper aims to provide with the basics of Forensic science, some historical reviews and advancement in forensic sciences has been the measure source of detecting the evidences required to know who the criminal is and law could take decision against him.

Introduction

Forensic science in layman terms can be defined as, the application of events of science in conjunction with the law. It is the collection of scientific procedures that is applicable whenever a crime is conducted and to provide evidence when a crime has been committed and also tells us how the crime could have been committed.

It can be or it is a mean of fibers, DNA, fingerprints and bodily fluid that can be collected and stored with special care without and contamination so that police could use it later as an evidence for an investigation into a specific crime or say a series of crime.

All of these types of forensic science have specialties and are important to recognize that the forensic science role in criminal prosecution has been vital and helping in bringing many criminals to the law and in prison or in many cases to justice who in other cases might have slipped through the net.

Forensic science is not merely important to remember simple investigating the events surrounding death. It also covers serious grievous and sexual bodily assault that has taken place. Moreover it has proved that how legal system conducts cases when they have brought to a court of law.

In order to aid in the criminals detection and provided innocence of people suspected of crimes that they did not even commit, in the last two decades, forensic science has made milestones in the field of law and order and providing people with justice in life (Cooper, C., 2008).

It is the benefit of modern science in the field of forensics that it can be said many of the crimes that are committed in this world in the recent years, are unable to be solved without such technological advancements and the suspects and murderers would not have had got their punishments by the law.

Forensic science now has a different form, as it was in the history, the methods being used now for the evidence finding are:

Ballistic (i.e. the study of firearms)

DNA Coding

Toxicology (i.e. the study of drugs)

Serology (i.e. the study of fluids in the body)
