In 1995, Ford had a merger with various cars manufactures in Europe having the joint market-share of cars, and it has 12.2%, which was the highest share in all manufacturing industry in eleven years, with a portfolio of three of the eight best-selling cars. In United States, it has was considred having five of the best selling cars in the world under its portfolio out of ten. It also had the best-selling car (Ford Taurus) and best-selling trucks (F series).

History and Background

Ford the company was founded in 1903, by Henry ford along with the investment of 12 other investors with the amount of 28,000$. In its early years, Ford manufactured few cars per day at its factory on Mack Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. Groups of two or three men worked with each car using components made in other companies.

The company grew gradually as one of the biggest and the most profitable company of the world. It is the only company that survived in the great depression of 1930's. In 1908, the company released the Ford Model T Ford, whose first unit was manufactured in the Piquette Manufacturing Plant, and by 1913, the company had taken over the complete grip on the basic techniques and line mass of production. Ford created the first moving production line in the world that year, which reduced chassis assembly time from 12 hours to 100 minutes. The first model designed and built for Europe was the Ford and 8 HP.

Products and Brands

Ford Motors Company always produced the automobiles under its own brand name or as Lincoln in US. The first brand introduced by Ford was Edsel (1958), which was discontinued due to its poor sales. In 1985, they introduced Merker in Europe and again it was discontinued in 1989.
