Very little food in the UK actually comes from local sources. Many trips made to provide food that is out of season in the UK. Even the food from the UK may have been hundreds of kilometers of roads.

Bananas

Costa Rica and Venezuela remained as the main suppliers of bananas to the UK, with Colombia, making a huge task to move to these two. Mexico has declined significantly in their banana exports to the UK, as their total exports declined, and they shift their attention to other directions. Honduras has a fairly sharp drop in the past few years, and Panama nearly tripled its sales in the UK. Banana market is steadily growing, and per capita consumption from 1987 to 1997 grew by about twelve percent. Bananas make about one percent of all supermarket sales. One publication, recent trends, even claimed that 94% of British households buy bananas, compared with the paltry 80% for apples and 70% for grapes. Bananas are even the most profitable fruit, contributing to two per cent of net profit of the supermarket! If you will not be shown to be toxic or bananas, can be carcinogenic, the banana industry will continue to grow as population growth, and profits will be, especially in the UK.

Coffee
