Fitness Testing Battery and Norms for Chosen Sport
Introduction
Fitness testing battery can be regarded as the group of fitness test that relates or represent the criteria of selectionn for the different physiological demands of a specified sport. The demands and results for the physical battery test vary according to the sports and the norms. The battery of fitness test is varied with the gender, age and level appropriate for performance..There are many other factors to be considered depending upon the standardized protocols.
Discussion
Standardized protocols
There is a need to standardize the protocol of any fitness test so a clear comparisons can be determined for a test at different times. There are certain external factors that are needed to be controlled which can directly affect the results of the test obtained (ACSM , 2000).
Few factors that should be controlled include:
Order of tests
The warm up
Environmental conditions
Recovery periods
Fluid and nutritional status
The SPARQ is system of rating that is designed to calculate to measure sport-specific athleticism. The results of these tests are evaluated and specified using a formula that is more specific toAmerican soccer. These are the following components that are specific to soccer and effect the performance as well.
Gender
The fact that why women don't rarely compete against men in any sport is very important considering the fact that the criteria of judgment for both the competitors is different
Men usually have stronger, heavier and longer bones than women
Women have flatter and wider pelvis
The amount of fat carried by women is more than men
The testosterone level of men is higher than women so they hav more stronger muscles
A woman's menstrual cycle could become a reason for affecting the performance
Due to lower muscles mass, women are more flexible than men. Girls attain their physical maturity at the age of 16-17 that is 3 or 4 years earlier than men (Morrow,2005)

Body Fat
The skin fold method is a way of determining the body fats. Monitoring body weight changes will cater to the indication of fat of the body varies, assuming there will be no change in muscle mass. Skin fold measurement is evaluation of the fats in the body by skin fold thickness measurement. Skin fold measurements are used to evaluate body composition.
Excess body fat affect the player's ability to move freely around the field and similarly the extra weight will consequently become the cause of increase in the fatigue.
Body size
It include the anthropometry for the body i.e. dimension of the body i.e. appropriate height of the body, span of the hand, arm length, body mass & skin folds (Willmore & Costill, 1999).
Strength
Children are not usually as strong as the adults. Full strength cannot be attained before the age ...
