Introduction

English has never been my very popular subject. In detail, it has always been my smallest very popular subject. Going through school, I often wondered why I wasn't doing well in my english language classes wondering what I've learned to hate this question without knowing any future benefits when learning the language. Since the starting of the English dialect, there have existed certain phrases that were advised by the most to be taboo, or not to be voiced in gracious discourse. Over the centuries, these phrases have altered, some going away from the dialect entirely and some easily taking on new meanings or functions. One wonders why, if these phrases were advised too rude to be voiced, they were ever used, and consequently, how they stayed a fixture in a dialect renowned for its transient trends and short-lived fashions. Could it be that these words were, and are, essential for communication? Would the English dialect be as productive without these words? Are efforts to repress them futile? Does the popularization of such language conceive the need for new words with the identical taboo status as the original phrases? To condense: Does profanity assist a helpful purpose in the English language?

In alignment to response a question this convoluted, certain guidelines must be set. The phrase 'profanity' has a long register of taboo phrases affiliated with it, not all of which can be accommodated inside such a short study. Also, it is good to come up with solutions to problems, but it is also okay just to talk about them and not have solutions.
