The Movie Beauty and the Beast was directed by 1991 by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise. The movie is a fairy tale of a beautiful girl, who lived in a small French town. The girl was extremely dissatisfied with the low-standard life. The Beast was a prince, who was under a magic spell. His heart was turned into a callous piece, and therefore, he was not able to feel love for anyone. In order to, break the spell the prince had to fall in love and receive love in return before his 21st birthday.
The film shows women as an unequal creature, and catering to the male ego. The girl had to do all, that the Beast wanted her to do, in order to, change him. The narrative cinema is based on serving male ego, and catering to their heroism, that is, totally contrary to feminist approach and theories. The paper studies the attempt of narrative cinema to approach female, and how it looks at the female character in a source, rather than, the unit of a movie, equally important to men (Mavley, pp. 835-839). The paper is a critical analysis of the movie, in the context of, narrative cinema approach, as well as, visual pleasure.
