Q1. What kinds of things might limit your ability or willingness to provide the researcher with accurate information? Describe any three.

When there is research about the family life, it often gives inaccurate data. The respondent usually feels reluctant in providing information about their family life and therefore will not give the accurate information about their family (Hertz, 1994). There can be three possible reasons for that:

People feel ashamed when sharing about their family life

Have fear that people will get to know about their family relations

Feeling of embarrassment and a fear of social exclusion

The above listed reasons give the picture that why people feel reluctance while sharing about their family life because they do not want to tell information about their family and family issues. It can be due to that they may have problems in their family lives which they do not want to share (Hertz, 1994).

They may have a feeling of embarrassment, because they think that if people come to know that they have disruptive relation among their families or with their spouse then they will make fun of them. The perception that the society will make fun of them if they disclose their information about family issues makes the person overall negative attitude towards the society.

Q2. Describe two advantages and two disadvantages of arranged marriages.

The two main advantages of arranged marriage are as followed

Full Family Support

The biggest plus of arranged marriage is that in arranged marriage the bride and the groom are bound in a relationship pre-dominantly with the consent of the Family. When the family was instrumental in the marriage relationship then it is obvious that the family will always support and backed their decision and will always show positive feelings for the relationship (Jarrett, 2006).

Risk of Incompatibility Is Lessened

In Arranged marriages the families of Bride and Groom belongs to a similar background. Their families share similar culture, customs, beliefs and ethical values. So, in that case the risk of incompatibility of Bride and Groom becomes lesser. (Jarrett, 2006).

The two main disadvantages of arranged marriage are as followed

Inability to Make up One's Own Mind

In arranged marriage, the crucial issue is that there is no personal interest of any of the partner can be seen. Arranged marriages are normally settled by the parents, so the partners do not know about each other very much. They simply put\ their feelings for their partners without knowing that what will be the nature he or she has (Jarrett, 2006).

Love Takes Lesser Priority

In arranged marriages, a healthy relationship between bride and the Groom is characterized by how long they can stay together and not by how much they love each other. This makes the marriage relationship as just an artificial relation to satisfy the society but the gist of a marriage which rest upon the factor of “Love” was not present their (Jarrett, 2006).
