Abstract

The purpose of the research proposal is to highlight the role of facebook in today's society. The researcher found that facebook leading the people to isolation from the real world and people now limited to the facebook. The researcher also showed other side as well in which the researcher mentioned that there are people who use facebook for constructive purpose like using facebook to promote their businesses. Therefore, according to the researcher, the utility of facebook entirely depend upon the user.

Introduction

Facebook is a site of social networks created by Mark Zuckerberg founded by Eduardo Saverin, Chris Hughes, Dustin Moskovitz and Mark Zuckerberg. Originally a site for students of the University of Harvard, but now is open to anyone with an account of e-mail.Users can participate in one or more social networks in relation to their academic status, place of work or geographical region. Facebook received much attention in the blogosphere and the media to become a platform on which third parties can develop applications and do business from the network (Bargeron & Tidd, 2011, pp. 318).

In mid- 2007 launched versions in French, German and Spanish, to promote its expansion outside the United States, as their users concentrated in the U.S., Canada and United Kingdom. In July 2010, Facebook has 500 million members, and translations into 70 languages. In November 2011, reaches 800 million users. Facebook, writing in the logo: facebook, is an online community for creating, operating, and maintaining social networks, by the American company Facebook Inc., headquartered in California's Menlo Park operated in its private property. The offer opened in February 2004. Meanwhile, the Internet portal of millions of people around the world both personally and professionally and is one of the most visited network services. In January 2012 recorded around 845 million worldwide Facebook active users and reported on 2 February that they would go public.

Users must register to use the site, after which a personal profile created. Facebook allows each user to the effect that claims to be at least 13 years old, is to become a member. The main problem with the facebook is that people now spending more time while chatting through facebook. This leads to point that people are now presenting themselves more through facebook than through the physical presence. Therefore, in this research proposal, the researcher tried to find out the reasons that are that true, people presenting themselves more through the facebook than going into the real world.
