Death is a part of life that is directly associated with life, whether of a human being and animal. This journey to death begins with the formation of life. It is expressed as mystifying, inexplicable, and strange action towards which life proceeds. Death is an essential part of natural life cycle of all species present on our planet. It either may come at an old age or causes of death may be unnatural in nature to the person. Everyone has to die in this world; however, deep involvement in world's affair has made us to ignore the component of death from our daily life. Therefore, although we have knowledge that we have to leave this world on one day but we hardly ever think about the pain that comes with death. This pain may either be physical or emotional.

Lewis Thomas paper “On Natural Death” presents a unique and distinctive perspective about the death, life, and pain. He has made people to think beyond the limits and understand the depth of the concept. Thomas in his paper argues that death is the spectacle of human and animal existence.
