Introduction

After the end of the Second World War, origins of the two blocks that came into existence in Europe in the wake of the cold war politics were of course at first, but economic motives are also important. In the west, a goal was to force the West German economy, which was vital for the economic reconstruction of Europe, politically to the rest of Western Europe.

1. In the nearly fifty years since the end of World War II, the continent of Europe has become more tightly integrated than ever before. What forces have made for this increasing unity, and what are the political landmarks that chart its path?

In the east, too, the economic components increasingly important for the formation of blocs, but a little later in the west. To a growing extent, the integration process, both in West and East, despite the political origins, has become an economic project. The process made significant progress in Western Europe than in the east, where the planned economy set limits inherent in the speed and scale of evolution. (Glantz, 1995) Thurs stage of Western European trade integration with the integration factor. An economic community has been called into existence and a certain degree of institutional integration achieved. However, CEMA, which was based on bilateral trade in goods and trade agreements has not achieved economic integration within the meaning of the union of national economies into a single economic space. Central and Eastern Europe in many cases do not go beyond trade integration. (Glantz, 1995)
