Etiology of Various Psychological Disorders

Introduction

Various psychological disorders afflict persons that principally include those disorders that manifest themselves as anxiety and various anxiety related disorders, mood and various mood related disorders, and dissociation and dissociation related disorders. Anxiety is an unpleasant emotion that is associated with feelings of fear, dread, and physiological arousal. On the other hand, mood is defined as principally an emotional state. However, it also includes cognitive, motivational, and physical aspects as well. Disassociation is defined as a person's unconnected state with his or her memory, self image, or the conscious experience without any associated physical causes.

The various etiology (or causes) of these psychological ailments and associated disorders fall into the categories of biological, behavioral, cognitive, and psychodynamic components. However, any specific disorder can be viewed as occurring from not only a single component but as a result of multiple components. Still, the various disorders could be corrected and healed by interventions in any one of the various components of the disorders, such as using medication to correct the biological component which will automatically remove the other components of the disorder.

However, some argue that various psychological disorders are also psychiatric disorders and accordingly these can be treated with both medication and drugs provided by the psychiatrists as well as through various psychotherapies provided by the behavioral psychologists. This would comprise regular medical care for the patient.
