Introduction

The term African American or Black-American refers to people born in America, who are the ancestors of Sub-Saharan Africans. The term originated as a result of a stream of politically correct language that originated in the United States and was gradually spread to other territories (Mance, 2007). African Americans have lower life expectancy, higher infant mortality, and more frequent and widespread diseases, higher rates of illiteracy and lower incomes than their fellow. Therefore, in United States, it makes up over 40% of prisoners.
