Case Study

Judy is a 29 year old woman who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with multiple critical injuries sustained by a fall from the window of a sixth floor apartment. It is believed Judy jumped from the window following a suicide pact with her boyfriend. Judy's condition continued to deteriorate until her death six weeks later. Social support is important for family caregivers. This study examined the effect of family caregivers' perceived adequacy of social support on caregiver burden. The ethical aspect important for the right to health is equal access to services and health care and non-discrimination in this area. Unfortunately the inequalities are striking, because of disparities between regions, between countries, but also within the same country. Thus, to state that in industrialized countries people have easier access to services and health care in developing countries seems a truism.
