Introduction

Ethanol is a chemical compound obtained from the fermentation of sugars that can be used as fuel, either alone or mixed in varying amounts with gasoline, and its use has spread primarily to replace the use of derivatives of petroleum. The resulting fuel mix of ethanol and gasoline known as gasohol and gasohol. Two typical blends are E10 and E85, with levels of 10% ethanol and 85% respectively (Goettemoeller, 2007).
