The employment relationship has been serving as a basic vehicle and tool through which the employees gain access to their benefits and rights associated in the areas of social security and labor law. It serves as the main key point of reference for formulating the nature and scope of employer's obligations and rights towards the employees (Strebel 1992, pp. 20). For example, few years back, the British Airways asked its employees to voluntarily work up to a month without pay for the crisis-ridden airline. BA chief Willie Walsh said that he would decline in July to his salary, and called on other employees of the airline to work well for a certain time gratis. Similarly, the British Airways has announced in May, the biggest annual loss since its privatization in 1987 and is looking for savings. The company emphasizes the thousands so far, more than 40,000 jobs.Discussion
