Introduction

This proposal involves a video projection in the grand lobby of building 30 designed to commemorate and reawaken an important chapter of art history as well as Rockefeller Center

history that has been missing from the center for over 70 years.

Thesis Statement

New media and digital technology give us the opportunity to exhibit the past in a present context. The computer lends its self to collecting imagery, old and new, together into a form that will show the public, this moment in Rockefellers Centers history, in a unique, more accessible and unprecedented way, placing the viewers themselves at a crossroads and encouraging them to contemplate their own possession of and relation to technology. Digital media (as are against to analog media) are generally electronic media that work on digital codes. Today, computing is mainly founded on the binary number system. In this case digital mentions to the discrete states of "0" and "1" for comprising random data. Computers are appliances that (usually) understand binary digital facts and numbers as information and therefore comprise the predominating class of digital data processing machines. Digital newspapers ("Formats for giving information" as asserted by Wiktionary:media) like digital audio, digital video and other digital content can be conceived, mentioned to and circulated by digital data processing machines. Digital newspapers comprise a deep change from preceding (analog) media. Digital facts and numbers is unaligned of its understanding (hence representation). A random sequence of digital cipher like "0100 0001" might be understood as the decimal number 65, the hexadecimal number 41 or the glyph "A". See also: ASCII, Code. Florida's digital newspapers commerce association, Digital Media Alliance Florida, characterizes digital newspapers as "the creative convergence of digital creative pursuits, research, expertise and enterprise for human sign, connection, communal interaction and education".
