How to Write an Effective Essay at Postgraduate Level

Research Strategy

Research strategy is basically the strategy that is used to attain particular goal. That particular goal can be justifying a hypothesis, simply assessing information or others. In my case I have to assess information on the topic “How an effective essay can be written at Postgraduate level”. In order to gain information on given topic, it is essential for me to use different research strategies and come up with sound understanding.

The information can be gathered either through primary resources or through secondary resources; and both the methods can be elicited through qualitative or quantitative route. The research strategy undertaken for my study will principally be comprised of secondary data collection and that will be qualitative data, which will be based chiefly on the relative scholarly material found in books, journal articles, or at World Wide Web.

Secondary research is most widely used method for data collection and it involves the process of assessing information that is already gathered from the originator or the distributor of primary search (Prescott, 2008, n.d). I will be using secondary research method as it associates different advantages such as it is easy to access many sources of secondary data. Further, by using this method I can clarify the research options. Secondary research is often used to clarify the research focus before conducting primary research (Prescott, 2008, n.d). Moreover, this research method will help me align the focus of my research and I can get exact information that is required to uncover my research (Prescott, 2008, n.d). In many cases, primary research is difficult to conduct, thus secondary research is best if it provides the related and effective material.

In my secondary research I will be analyzing qualitative data as it is the strategy for going beneath the surface. It will provide me a holistic overview regarding my topic (Polski, 2001, n.d), which will allow me to have insight or in-depth examination of the phenomena. Further, it is not limited to rigid definable variables and allows me to use subjective information. Qualitative data examines complex questions which are impossible to analyze with quantitative methods. Moreover, it can provide me with new areas or ideas to explore related to my research and hence, build new information or theory.

In order to write an essay on how to write an effective post graduate essay, it is wise to research those journals, articles, and websites which provide material on writing skills of post graduates, importance of post graduate writing, difference between graduate level and post graduate level writing, and other related material like this type which can enhance my understanding of post graduate level essay writing.
