Introduction

Edgar Allan Poe was a famous American writer, journalist, essayist, poet, and critic and, above all, an innovator of the short story and novel of terror, considered the inventor of the detective story. The poem with which he became famous is The Raven (The Raven), and has even been parodied on an episode of The Simpsons . Edgar Allan Poe is the writer of emotions. I believe Poe's personal interest in alcohol abuse is the reason for the writing Black Cat.

The Black Cat

Edgar Allan Poe's "The Black Cat," written in 1842 and first published in the Saturday Evening Post, is distinctive among his tales in being one of very few that concern a narrator who is an alcoholic. There are many reasons why Poe would choose to employ a narrator who abused alcohol. As well known, Poe could speak from actual experience of such abuse. Although not a heavy or even a frequent drinker, there can be little doubt that drinking was behind many of the misfortunes and setbacks Poe suffered throughout his life.

Poe's Interest in Alcohol

Poe's interest in Alcohol can well be measured by looking at all harmony changes because of the character's excessive fondness for alcohol, it made ??him more irritable moody and indifferent to the feelings of others to the extent that turned violent with their prized pets and worse with his wife, opened with harsh words and continued with the punches.
