Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of green hotel in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on eco-friendly furniture & fixtures and its relation with the financial benefits that hotel sector attains. The research also analyzes many aspects of environmental friendly furniture & fixtures and tries to gauge its effect on hotel sector. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for green hotel's success and tries to describe the overall effect of eco-friendly furniture & fixtures on hotel sector.

Background of the study

An environmentally sensitive hotel is one that has altered its equipment, policies, and practices to minimize its strain on the environment. A careful examination of existing systems and operational procedures, especially in the areas of solid-waste management, water conservation, and energy management, will reveal an abundance of possible modifications that cost nothing or will pay for themselves in a few years. (Bowe, 2005) Below we present just a few of the hundreds of practices that a hotel can implement to become environmentally friendly. Everyone is emphasizing on the same thing today, that is to save the earth from the disastrous aftermaths of the modern day evils that are, pollution, overpopulation and deforestation. The earth is in a dire need to be saved by reducing the above mentioned evils. In such situation, eco friendly furniture can be a choice if you are planning for the perfect home furniture with an eco friendly atmosphere. (Doberstein, 2002) All this without having to change your gumption of style and comfort level. Eco friendly furniture is in a huge demand amongst mass as well as the class. Furniture is the basic necessity in any house that distinguishes it from all the rest. It is important to plan your furniture carefully as this decides the expression of your personal style. Eco friendly furniture can be the trendy way that you can prefer over many other furniture types. There are some great eco friendly chairs, desks, space dividers, cabinets and all other possible furniture pieces. (Doberstein, 2002)
