Introduction

Glaspell queries and in so doing calls the reader or observer to also query, the comparative worth of men's and women's standpoint and work by setting up a tension-filled drama that clarify through the development of two separate narratives, one male and one female. As Holstein disagrees in her essay, though, the questioning Glaspell provokes is not unavoidably only about women's positions in the culture but somewhat how facts and perspective are esteemed or devalued within precise contexts. Critique

Holstein offers, and I agree that the traditional feminist readings trifle, as a limitation, as the socially constructed category of gender is. More questioning of gender roles, Glaspell seems to offer the reader the question of what to build even more complex, and that is how people understand, and they believe that they understand each other, and their stories. As Holstein signals, it is not necessarily that women approach and the final decision to protect Ms. Wright is simply inferred from the joint ... gender "(288). Holstein said that the men in the play advance the Wright house, where Mr. Wright has been found killed as an offence scene, while the women who go with them through the study approach the house as a house.
