Gabriel John Utterson, a lawyer who is on his weekly walk with his cousin Richard Enfield, who comes to tell him about the meeting he had last night while returning home late at night (do not know that he returned home from the list). Fairy tale describes a sinister figure named Mr. Hyde who tramples a young girl disappears into a doorway on the street, and re-check to pay his / her family signed by a decent man, for 100 pounds. For several months, Jekyll returns to his former way of a friendly and sociable, as if the weight was lifted from his shoulders. Later, Jekyll suddenly begins to refuse visitors, and Lanyon dies of shock after receiving information related to Jackie. Before his death, Lanyon gives Utterson a letter stating that they do not know about it only after the death or disappearance of Jekyll.
