Introduction

Domestic violence is any action or omission starring the members who comprise the group family, this can be by marriage, blood or affiliation and transformed into aggressors relations between them causing damage to physical, psychological, sexual, economic or social one or several of them. This abuse can be specified as: Physical acts that threaten or attack the person's body such as pushes, slaps, punches, kick, etc (Benninger & Lacroix, 1999). Psychological Attitudes have intended to cause fear, intimidation, and controlling behavior, feelings and thoughts of the person who is being targeted as the insults, insults, control, etc. Economic: Do not cover the person's basic needs and exercise control over resources economic.

Domestic Violence and Its Emergence

It has been estimated that around two million women become a victim of assault in a year and more than fifty million are assaulted in their lifetime. The topic has been a great deal of interest for many years; however, it has only been recently that adequate attention has been paid to the intricacies of the relationship in between pregnancy and domestic violence. However, it is still difficult to determine the nature of pregnancy-related violence (Sen, 1999). It has resulted in difficult situations for both researchers and practitioners in order to understand the relationship between pregnancy and IPV (Intimate Partner Violence) for developing and implementing effective safety measures and intervention programs.

There are two ways to measure how common domestic violence is the incidence and prevalence. In the case of domestic violence, incidence is best thought of as the number of acts of domestic violence during a given time in a given population. Prevalence is best thought of as the proportion of a population that has experienced domestic violence in a specified time period. If every victim experienced only one act of domestic violence in a year, incidence and prevalence numbers would be the same for that year (Blumel, et al, 1993). However, typically incidence figures are higher than prevalence figures when based on the same data. These are typically calculated on an annual and lifetime basis, so both are presented here.

Effects of Domestic Violence

In reviewing the causes of domestic violence, it is also important to identify what kind of affect does this phenomenon has on human nature and personality, which includes the dysfunction of the family, the distance of its members and changes in behavior or attitude. The effects can be classified as: psychophysical and psychosocial specific and generic or general.

Psychophysical effects are those that produce mental or physical changes in a single act. Psychics refer to the devaluation, low self-esteem and emotional stress caused by the tensions that abuse occurs; employees produce such a decline in their performance work since the difficult, emotional stress concentration, as physicists are manifested in the form of bruises, open wounds, fractures, burns, etc (Kellermann & Mercy, 1992).
