Goals or Vision of Doctoral Development Plan

Being the student of PhD degree in business, it is important to prepare a plan in order to achieve the goals and aims successfully. This plan would guide the way where goals can be attained. The vision is to obtain the PhD degree in business and pursue a successful career.

Personal and professional goals

In goal-setting, it is important to have both personal and professional goals. Several short term goals that can be worked toward along with a small number of long-term goals. The short-term goals are important because it gives a sense of achievement when one reach a goal and able to mark it off his list. After that it take some time to reevaluate what is important to me and start to add some other goals to strive toward (Sadler, 2004).

The number one goal currently on individual personal short-term list is to buy a new house. Individual have a decent little starter house now but really want something a little bigger with a basement and a garage. To achieve this goal individual will have to make a budget that will allow me to pay an extra payment every month on the house individual now own. One's goal is to have current house paid off in 4 years so individual can sell this house and use the money as a down payment on a nicer house. Individual will have to check his progress every 6 months to make sure the payoff is what individual planned on it being at that point(Herminia, 2003).

The barrier individual can imagine is that this is a lofty goal and making an extra payment every month may not be completely feasible but individual like to set his goals high so if individual fall a little short, but one is still in good shape. Individual may realize that in 4 years he won't have the house paid off but he may just owe a small amount of money on it. Since one aiming to pay it off, it only owes a few thousand dollars on it, it will still allow a sizable down-payment toward another house (Kuther, 2011).

Individual professional short-term goal is to be able to commence his career with a reputable company or organization. Although one know that it will be difficult in the beginning but individual sure that it would lead me to achieve his long-term goals. Individual have based this goal on theory that a specific high goal leads to higher performance than simply urging people to do their best. To achieve this individual will need to complete his Phd in business within the minimum assigned time. One will have to make a point to learn from every person around me because they will each have their own way of performing different tasks and interventions.
