Introduction

Diverticulosis is a condition that leads to the Diverticulitis. It is characterized by the inflamed and infected diverticula. Diverticula are small patches that appear out of the edges of the colon. The infectious part of the colon is is usually the sigmoid. The disease is seen to be existed in people who are aged and it is common in people between the age of 60 and 80. Half of the people falling in this age group are diagnosed of this disease. Equally found to be common among men as well as women. This patch when becoming inflamed or contract infection leads to Diverticulitis.

Discussion

Continuous abdominal pain and tenderness of the lower portion of the abdomen are the two most common symptoms that point towards the idea that a person might be suffering from the Diverticulitis. Yet there are other symptoms as well but they are not as common as the above two discusses. People who are suffering from Diverticulosis are generally believed to do not exhibit any symptom generally but the diverticulitis patients do exhibit some signs. Other than those discussed above, constipation, fever, nausea, bloating, mild cramps, vomiting, cold, rectal bleeding, change in bowel routine and habits, rectal bleeding and pain are other common symptoms found to be associated with Diverticulitis.

The symptoms might lead the patient or doctor doubting that the patient is suffering from some other disease because they have the propensity to match various other disease in the diagnosis. So the diagnosis is hard part for the doctors.
