ABSTRACT
Recruitment is a significant step in a company's expansion and has to be given due care to increase the company's pool of resources to ensure growth and productivity. Hence, companies need to constantly update and revise their recruitment strategies with the aim of hiring potential employees through standard and transparent means. In this study, Tesco has been included as a case study in an attempt to try to explore the concept of internal recruitment at Tesco in a holistic context. Secondary research is employed and the main focus of the research is on Tesco Plc. The research also analyzes many aspects of recruitment policies at Tesco and tries to gauge its effect on diversity and equal opportunity. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for recruitment at Tesco and tries to describe the overall effects of policies on diversity and equal opportunity across the company.

Background of research
Tesco is one of the biggest private sector employers in UK. Tesco has more than 365,000 employees throughout the world. In UK, the Tesco stores range from the small local Tesco Express sites to the large Tesco Extras. More than 85% of all the sales of Tesco are from UK. Tesco also operates in more than 10 countries outside UK, which includes countries like Japan, China and Turkey. Tesco has also opened stores in America.
The requirement to employ and choose employees is universal but while this requirement may be universal, specific procedures highly vary and their method may well be culture specific. In numerous evolving finances, for example Tesco's, contextually set customary practices are often opened up to foreign influence. This study examines existing internal recruitment policies at Tesco, the role of Ethnic minorities across higher level management and how Tesco can embrace and promote diversity and equal opportunity across the company.
Problem statement
As far as requirement is concerned, Tesco needs to ensure that it has right number of people in the right jobs. To do this, it has a structured process for recruitment and selection to attract applicants for both managerial and operational roles.
