Provide a safe, secure and orderly environment throughout the district for students, staff, parents and patrons of the Irving ISD, while also making emergency preparedness a high priority.

Prepare students for life beyond high school, meet No Child Left Behind standards, and strive for an Exemplary district rating in the Texas Accountability System by annually improving student achievement and other indicators on each campus.

Ensure equal access to advanced academic programs, elective classes, extra-curricular and co-curricular activities for all students and strengthen advanced academic, core and elective curricula.

Expect all professional staff to effectively facilitate teaching and learning by using technological resources to engage students so that all graduates can succeed in a 21st century environment.

Provide salary, benefits, staff development, and working conditions conducive to recruiting and retaining a highly qualified, ethnically diverse staff.

Encourage and assist all parents to be active partners in the education of their children and expand opportunities for parental and community  input to decision makers

Introduction

Board Policy BQA (Local) states, “The District Improvement Committee (DIC) shall be involved in establishing and reviewing the District's education plans, goals, performance objectives, and major classroom instructional programs.” Each year DIC members contribute many hours to this process.
