The statements expressed by Stephen provide us interesting insights pertaining to the role of tabernacle in religion and Theology. The acts of bible 7:44-50 are a great source of historic learning for us since they have a major role in shaping up the Biblical theology. There is a huge role of Stephen in his altercation with God. He is known to disapprove the charges leveled against him that he is involved in blasphemy towards God. Stephen was also charged with speaking against the law. The next charge which he addressed was on speaking against the temple. The charges pertaining to his statement on destroying of temple by Jesus had some major implications (Constable, 2013).
First of all the charge on destroying the temple by Jesus as well as the act of altering Jewish customs were known to be peculiar allegations which got risen. The Jewish leaders pertaining to Stephen's era were known to associate excessive importance to the temple. The temple has a huge contribution in historic theology. Jewish leaders of that time were known to also attach excessive importance to Mosaic Law and Promised Land as well (Constable, 2013).
The Jewish leaders have been guilty of distorting God's interpretation of the temple. Earlier, they were also guilty of distorting His meaning pertaining to the law. In his statements, Stephen has asserted the point that God wanted the tabernacle of testimony to be built in the context of wilderness. Stephen has negated the impression that God wanted the temple to be built. God knew the importance of having a blueprint in place before going ahead with any project (Constable, 2013).
The tabernacle of testimony rose in importance because it had God's revealed will to its credit. Additionally, it is considered the field that encouraged God's attentiveness. The witness aspect of the tabernacle pertains to the tablets related to Law that have occupied their presence.
