Difference between Management And Leadership

People usually assume that a manager, by default, is a leader. In reality a leader and a manager can be distinguished clearly. The leader has followers and the manager is a follower. The following comparison is taken from (Bennis, 16):

A manager is an administrator while a leader is an innovator.

A manager maintains the current resources and assets while a leader develops them.
