With many modes of transport (trucking, rail, and shipping where this option is available) now-a-days there is intense competition in the commodities transport industry, and in order to survive in the business, companies have to keep their charges low. Consequently they have to keep their operating costs low. About 75% of transport by railroads in the world is based on diesel locomotives; the remaining 25% is mostly running on electrified track (Ransome, 2001).
Thesis statement
This paper focuses on finding the information about the diesel trains and electrical trains and finding the problems in using both the diesel trains and electrical trains.
Problem
Unfortunately, the domestic industry is currently not commercially released to the characteristics of diesel engines that meet the requirements of railcar rolling stock, suitable for placement under the car body, for this reason; for example, rail buses equipped with power modules are imported (Hay, 1982). The mass distribution of power plant and transmission facilities of both diesel and electrical trains provides an opportunity to save on diesel train loads from the wheels on the rails 20 ton maximum in the case of Cabin passengers. In addition, the preservation of motor car without modification allows the use of diesel-train as an electric rolling stock on electrified sections of track (Duffy, 2003).
Solution
One of the solutions to the design and manufacture of new DMVPS for Britain railways would be to use electrical engines, additionally equipped with diesel power and accessories, made in the form of blocks (modules) for undercar location. In the pilot and first production samples of diesel rolling stock are possible to use Power Modules which are imported. It should be noted that of "The Star" (St. Petersburg) made two prototypes for horizontal diesel placement on rolling stock. After fine-tuning of these ...
