Dente`s Inferno

Dante Alighieri, one of the utmost poets of the Middle Ages, was born in Florence, Italy on June 5, 1265. He was born to a middle-class Florentine family. At an early age he began to write verse and became fascinated with lyrics. During his adolescence, Dante dropped in love with a beautiful young female entitled Beatrice Portinari. He saw her only two times, but she granted much motivation for his literary masterpieces. Her death at a juvenile age left him grief-stricken. His first publication, LaVita Nuova, was written about her. Sometime before 1294, Dante wed Gemma Donati. They had four children.

Dante was hard work in the political and infantry life of Florence. He entered the armed detachment as a youth and held several significant places in the Florence government throughout the 1290's. All through his life, Florence was alienated politically among Guelphs and Ghibellines. The Guelphs sustained the place of worship and admired to keep things as they were, different the Ghibellines. The Ghibellines were mostly supporters of the German emperor, and at the time Dante was born, they were reassured of their power. When this change took place, the Guelphs, with who Dante's family was affiliated, took power. Although born into a Guelph family, Dante became more neutral subsequent in life recognizing that the place of worship was corrupt, believing it should only be involved in spiritual affairs. The further Dante descended into hell, the worse the punishments became. Due to the time period in which Dante wrote the Inferno, only the individuals of that time, along with their respective sins, are addressed. If Dante had written the Inferno in today s modern world, many interpretations and degrees of punishment for certain sins would have changed. As a result, many individuals in recent history would have deservedly been addressed.

At the turn of the century, Dante rose from city councilman to ambassador of Florence. His vocation completed in 1301 when the Black Guelph and their French allies grabbed command of the city. They took Dante's belongings and sentenced him to be enduringly expelled from Florence, threatening the death penalty upon him if he returned. Dante spent most of his time in exile composing new parts of literature. It is alleged that around 1307 he intervallic his incomplete work, Convivio, a reflection of his love poetry and philosophy of the Roman tradition, to begin The Comedy (later known as The Divine Comedy). He composed a book called De Vulgari Eloquentia explaining his concept to blend a number of Italian dialects to create a new nationwide language. In 1310 he writes De Monarchia presenting Dante's case for a one-ruler world order.

Among his works, his status rests on his last work, The Divine Comedy. He began composing it somewhere between 1307-1314 and completed it only a short while before his death in 1321, while in exile.
