Deep Vein thrombosis Prevention and Approaches to prevent Readmissions

Executive Summary

This research paper is regarding disease named as Deep Vein thrombosis, which is caused by blood clotting deep vein and cause swelling, redness, edema and decolonization. It occurs in 1 or 2 out of every 1000 population of USA. The research is based on qualitative data collected from past researches a There is clear evidence that therapeutic venous thromboembolic prophylaxis can reduce the incidence of DVT. Prophylactic measures can be pharmacological or mechanical and must be used with due consideration of their side effects. The data observed is of operated orthopedic patients suffering with doubt of postoperative DVP developed. In addition, D-dimer diagnostic strategy, based on turbodi- metric IL immunoassay and vein ultrasonography, significantly raises efficacy, accuracy, and reliability, augments cost effectiveness of early detection of postoperative DVT in patients subjected to general surgical procedures. There should be an adequate risk assessment tool to produce valid and reliable results. That's why, as per study, the risk assessment tool for DVT is divided into three stages that clarify and explains the risk factors causing DVP in PE in patients, assigning weights and points to each risk factor to calculate the score of each risk factor, and assessing the validity and reliability of results produced by verifying the consistency of result for the same factor and same patient.

Key words: Deep Vein thrombosis or DVT, thrombophlebitis, pulmonary embolism or PE, Orthopedic surgery, Total hip replacement or THR, total knee replacement or TKR, hip fracture surgery or HFS.

Deep Vein thrombosis Prevention and Approaches to prevent Readmissions

Introduction

Deep Vein thrombosis or DVT is a vascular ailment that causes formulation of thrombosis, which is called a blood clot or emboli in a deep vein or blood vessel. It mostly forms a blood clot in the deep vein of calf and thigh, which is the lower flashy part of human leg, however, it may also strike at the upper part of pelvis. Pelvis is located near the base of spine where legs are attached or it can also be the portion of abdomen, which includes pelvis into it. DVT may also further cause conditions of pulmonary embolism or PE, which is also known as thrombophlebitis. It is a condition that cause swelling in veins in association with blood clotting. It may be observed with pain, edema, redness and swelling or specific changes occurring in skin. The sum of DVT and PE is known ...
