There are several individuals who are continually participating in the elections and winning the council membership, Marion Barry is one of those individuals. He has served the mayor ship several times, and he is the potential candidate for elections. However, a crucial debate is raised about his anticipated success and his past behaviors which earned bad reputations for him. Barry represent ward 8 which is one of the competitive wards in D.C. if Barry have to gain success this time, he will have to cope with the challenges of the emerging leadership and fight against his yet striking foregoing allegations. This paper discuses Barry's early life, political career, the river east leadership, and the challenges that Barry may face during the elections.
Should Marion Barry be reelected in 2012 elections?
In my opinion, he should not be reelected in 2012 elections. His reputation has been tarnished for several legal p[problems including the failure to file tax returns and pay taxes, alleged traffic violations, alleged personal been fits from contract to girlfriend, and the controversy raised on the vote to gay marriages. All these factors will make it difficult for him to sustain a future, excellent reputation. People will not prefer an electorate with a number of allegations. Even if, he is reelected, his personality and actions will always be questionable. The current situation likely portrays that the ward 8 voters are tired of Marion's allegations and his heroic actions. For this reason, he should not be reelected in 2012 elections (Surhone, 2011).
