We don't have dictators in our midst today. Truth is that if there were any dictators, they would have been toppled over sooner than they could make their first decree. Today, leadership is more about being accommodating, about thinking of the other individual in the team as much as thinking about oneself. Any formula that governs powerful leaders of today is much different from what it was all those years ago (Kotter, 1990).

Leadership quality is not bounds to religious or racial factors, neither cultural nor ethnic borders rather leaders can be from anywhere. Modern leaders are products of evolved leadership. Time passes and everything evolves, including leaders and leadership approaches. Circumstances progress and complexities often go with change and progress, that's why leaders of today have to learn to adapt. This is the primary characteristic of modern leaders. Old school leadership tends to be rigid and authoritative. It used to be that leaders were the ones with overwhelming machismo and brute strength. Traditional leadership may still have its merits, but modifications in its methods are necessary to be effective in today's setting (Kouzes & Posner, 1993).
