Critique on the Student's Learning Style Surveys

Introduction

Taking a decision regarding any matter is a difficult task. This becomes more important when it comes to make decisions related to education or education facility. The most important thing that provides support and guidance in reaching a decision is the availability of the plethora of information. This availability of information becomes possible to obtain when people have access to properly maintained websites and data resources. In order to address this issue the notion of designing website to aid students, and faculty in making impartial decisions is of immense importance. For such websites, different results of the different surveys can be very helpful. These surveys provide information to the faculty and management of the educational institutes with information on the basis of which they can take their decisions. These different surveys include School Climate Survey, Elementary School Climate Survey, College Student Survey, Learning Style Survey and Safe and Civil Schools Student Survey. This paper reveals different facets and provides in-depth details about one of the surveys. The selected survey for this paper is School Climate Survey. The aim of this paper is to talk about the selected survey from variegated aspects.

School Climate Survey

School Climate Survey can be described as an assessment tool. The aim of this survey or assessment tool is to assess the social climate and environment of the school from the perspective of students. This survey is targeted to the students of middle school. In the survey, different questions are asked to the students. There are seven questions in the survey that are designed to get demographic information about the participants of the survey. There are sixty one statements regarding the social environment of the school. There are three items related to the topic of racism and one question regarding the suspension of student from school. The format of the survey is based on Likert Scale. The scale typically contains five or seven response options that allow qualifying the degree of agreement (Brian, 2010).

Respondents of the Survey

As it is clear from the name of the survey, that this survey is for the students of school, and this survey is targeted towards middle school. It is clear that the participants of the survey are the students of middle school. In this survey, different students of different middle school take part and provide feedback regarding the asked questions. In this survey, students of middle school, take part despite the gender and ethnicity differences (William, 2011).
