Crime Scene Investigation

Introduction

This research paper is based on the case related to criminology; in this case a person has been murdered. The case has to be analyzed from the point of view of an investigator. The case has to answer the questions depending on the basis of criminal investigation. There are several evidences found at the crime spot, what investigator will do that he will take the photograph of each and every object around the body.

Recovering Evidence from the Crime Scene

Dried blood

In order to collect the blood from the crime scene the investigator has to cover the blood spots with paper or plastic and then cover it with the help of a tape so that it can be saved from contamination. When investigator wants to recover it then he will scrape the blood from the floor on clean paper, which can easily be folded and kept into an envelope, by using freshly washed tool like a knife or any other similar object. One important thing, do not mix two stains, always keep each stain separately (Hess & Orthmann, 2009).

Handgun

In order to recover solid product from the crime scene a little caution must be taken. Investigator will use clean plastic gloves and pick the handgun from that place. The gun will kept in the plastic bag for future lab tests. Gloves and plastic bag are used so that no more finger prints can come on the solid object such as the handgun (Brown, 2001).Shell casings

The same process that was followed in the case of handgun should be followed in the shell casings. Extreme care should be taken while collecting shell casing as it may also have fingerprints on it. The investigator will pick shell and keep them in separate bags. These shells will help in understanding the scenario more properly. More often, time there is a chance that the shells that are found at the crime scene are different from the gun shell (Becker, 2010).

Hairs

For recovering hair from the victim, the investigator will use forceps for putting the hair in the envelop, and then place envelope save in the plastic bag with labelling and then transport it to the lab for extensive tests (Hess & Orthmann, 2009).

Tools used to recover the evidence

A command centre needs to be put into place outside the crime scene. This is where the investigators receive their assignments, store the equipment that will be needed ...
