Introduction

This paper intends to explore about the differences that prevails in the due process model and the crime control model. The due process model gives more importance to place restrictions on the scope of rules and regulations and it focuses more on liberties and freedom that individual possess. Whereas the crime control model emphasizes on enforcing the criminals' prosecution. Moreover, based on the analysis of the differences that the two models possess, the most effective model will be identified with relation to the crime rate that prevails in our society.

Discussion

The due process and the crime control models both involve the aim of providing equitable justice. The model of due process was created to provide surety to individuals that their rights are displayed properly and they are provided with a justified chance in courts in order to defend themselves. On the other hand, crime control model was designed to ensure that criminal cases that are weak are handled in a manner that does not consume a lot of time. Both the models are important with respect to the criminal justice system and they play an essential part in analyzing crimes and in providing meaning to the criminal justice system (Ashworth, 1998).

Due process model refers to the understanding of individual's rights. This model realizes the fact that any person's rights must not be neglected who is going through the conduct of criminal agencies without ensuring the best of legal procedures. This makes the individual who has been charged for any crime possesses various rights. The criminal agencies need to respect those rights.
