The Walt Disney Company is one of the largest media and entertainment companies in the world. Founded by and Roy and Walt Disney on 16th October 1923 as originally animated Disney Brothers Studio, and later Walt Disney Productions. Soon, the Walt Disney Company has become one of the biggest Hollywood studios (Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Marvel and Lucas film), they also owns several television stations including ABC and ESPN. The first and most famous Disney cartoon character, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company (Jaffe, 2001; Schickel, 1968). The company is a part of the Dow Jones Industrial Average from 6 May 1991.

Walt Disney: the man who turned business
It is often said that great works are really great if they can show that they are able to survive the death of its creators. Concomitantly, creators admirable perpetuate themselves by making endless creatures. And in history, few figures and few enterprises represent these maxims as well as Walt Disney, both the man and the business (Finch, 1973; Giroux, 1999). Born in Chicago, at the dawn of the twentieth century, Walt Elias Disney left home early. At age 16, during World War 1, he tried to enlist in the U.S. Army, but was stopped by yet to be minor. Still, got a place in the Red Cross, through which he worked in France, driving ambulances.
However, oddly enough, the big turnaround in his life was not to leave home and be in the midst of one of the bloodiest conflicts in history (Tobias, 2011; Kelly, 2007). The entrance into the art world at the turn to the United States was changing pathway that, in fact, revolutionized his life. With a small production company Laugh-O-Gram, who rode with his brother Roy and his friend Ub Iwerks, Disney began making animations of fairy tales, which were displayed at the opening of the local cinema films. In the following years and captained several transactions, even between defaults and losses suffered, the market managed to launch his most famous creation: the Mickey Mouse (Lombardo, 1998; O'Brien, 2003).

After the release of the sympathetic mice, several characters were incorporated into the extensive list now well known figures of the Walt Disney Company, as Minnie, Donald Duck and Pluto. Moreover, even in life, the entrepreneur saw his first ready theme park, Disneyland in Anaheim, California (Reece, 1998; Yarbrough, 1996). This success story was also permeated by several controversies, including historical facts and rumors so far unproven. The best known of these is that the hunt anti-Disney associates at the time that became known as McCarthyism (The Walt Disney Company, 2008; Jaffe, 2001).
