Introduction

Decades ago, American history in our country established its own area. Thus emerged a specialty that, unlike other areas historiography (such as Modern History or Contemporary), does not address a particular chronological period, but aims to analyze diachronically the history of the Americas. This anomaly responded more to special interests than to the scientific suitability. However, it is also explained by the radical conventional Eurocentric historiography, unwilling, therefore, the study of other geographical areas.

The Conquest of America is the historical process that was imposed by the European dominance in the New World after the contact between Europe and America in 1492 . This process includes the geographical exploration , the invasion and occupation of European territory and inhabited by the Indians. Conquest regimes allowed the establishment of colonial America, involving cultural assimilation of indigenous people and their submission to the colonial powers in various ways. For the European Conquest allowed to ensure that material goods played a key role in the primitive accumulation that was the basis for development of capitalism in the following centuries, mainly in the Netherlands, Britain and France. The Conquest of America was an ongoing process, as some indigenous societies opposed a resistance or were never subject to the Europeans (Saari, 2000).

The vision of the monarchy as a single is one of the obvious merits of Perez Herrero's book, which presents problems not common to the modernist Americanism, like power, the Court or the state, and applies the usual ideas for American world scholars "European" of the monarchy, as the key role of the sovereign in the political and social structure, the importance of the Catholic faith as an integrator, or the essential nature of the agreements of reciprocity between the various socio-political forces (Saari, 2000).

Strongly influenced by sociology and anthropology, the study is a smart and well-documented attempt to analyze, not either party, but the whole of colonial America, which makes it an indispensable book by a desire for integration and explanation of the various territories, periods and themes. An object as large, however, is hardly graspable, so the author has previously done work in economic history, focuses on the analysis of politics, society and above all, the real heart of the book. If all history is to respond to the concerns of the present, Perez Herrero's approach to colonial America is justified by the claim to find in the keys that allow us to understand the peculiarities of Latin American societies, strong imbalances, injustices and inequalities, or the difficult realization of democracy there (Kevin, 2011).
