Introduction
There are many realities in human life that they have to face no matter what. Irrespective of how harsh, bitter or painful these realities of phases in life are, every individual is bound to go through some or all of these phases sooner or later. Experiences like betrayal, hatred and revenge are inevitable to avoid by any individual. Another such reality of life includes the concept of mortality of not just human beings but every other living thing on the planet. Therefore, the realities of death are as old as the concept of life. Hence, various poets and authors have dedicated their creativity in exploring the mysteries and philosophies of death and after life through their poems. Two of such poets include Frost and Dickinson. Both these authors have produced several unique literature pieces highlighting the same topic. Therefore, the inclination and interest of both the two poets towards the topic is also highlighted in their poems that include “Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Frost and “Because I Could Not Stop for Death” by Dickinson (Brooke, 2012).
Thesis Statement
“Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Frost and “Because I Could Not Stop for Death” by Dickinson are indeed two distinguish poems that highlights the same reality of life that is “death”. However, the most prominent factor that distinguishes the two poems from each other is that one of these poems is solely highlighting the events of afterlife of death. Moreover, the depiction of death as an entity is also very different in both the two mentioned poems.
Discussion
The two poems that will be discussed include “Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost and “Because I Could Not Stop for Death” by Emily Dickinson. The two pieces of poems altogether highlights the fact that death is indeed inevitable. Al though, this is indeed a distant message revealed by the two poems. However, the in inevitable and unavoidable aspects of mortality are pointed out in both the poems.
“Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost
This poem was first published in the prize winning volume of Robert Frost's volume of 1923 known as New Hampshire. Of course the most memorable part of the book includes this Poem known as “Nothing Gold Stay”. The highlights of this poem are the fact that it is one of the briefest poems yet it still highlights a number of dimensions of death and its relevant aspects . (Diyann, 2005). Consisting of only forty words and just eight lines, this also a n extremely simply written poem that would give the reader the idea of the poets message from the very first read.
