Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to make an analysis on the outdated pharmacy software and the pharmacy programs that meet the HIPPA violations, cost on monthly maintenance. The software is important for the purpose of reducing the amount of the drugs which are expiring.

Purpose of the Study

There are different new software which is useful for the purpose of reducing the expiry of the drugs and improving the functionalities of the pharmacies. The main purpose of this study will be to make an analysis on the outdated pharmacy software and the description of the two software which could be helpful for the purpose of reducing the amount of the drugs which are expiring.

Rationale of the Study

The main rationale of this study will be to increase the knowledge about the different software which could be helpful for increasing the efficiencies of the pharmacy and reducing the number of the drugs which are expiring.

Significance of the Study

This study will be helpful for the students in order to understand the different ways of handling the drugs in the pharmacies. This study will also be helpful for the students and the pharmacists in order to get the knowledge about the outdated software and the new software which could be helpful in reducing the amount of the drugs which are expiring.

Literature Review

The number of the expired drugs in the pharmacies is increasing day by day (AHRTAG, 1994). There are different pharmacies facing the problems of the expired drugs. Thus, there is a great need of this problem to be solved. According to the research conducted on the different methods which could be helpful in providing solution to the problems, it has been identified that the effective software plays a vital role in reducing the number of the expired drugs (Rushbrook, 1999). However, there are different pharmacies which are using the outdated software which is the biggest barrier in solving the problem of the expired drugs. The different drug store software in order to prevent drugs from the expiry have become obsolete. These software used by the pharmacies help in the prevention from the dangerous combinations of the drugs before the filling of the prescriptions. There are different software which have become flawed and are not providing the desired results (Rushbrook, 1999). According to different researchers, these software are not providing the desired results. It is not effective to rely on these software for the purpose of preventing the drugs from getting expired. According to a research study, there are one-third pharmacies which are using the outdated software and have failed in providing the prevention against the expiry. These outdates software create the inconsistencies in the drug databases upon which the software relies (FPLM, 1994).
