Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of colours in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on colours, its history, symbolic significance and its effects on life. The research also analyzes many aspects of colours as a form of expression in Joan Miro's art.

Chapter 1: Introduction

1.1 Outline of the Study

Colors have proven to be the form of expression and entertainment throughout the history to date. According to Sir Isaac Newton, the colors create a sensation that occurs in response to nerve stimulation of the eye, caused by a wavelength of light. The human eye interprets different colors depending on the longitudinal distance. The colors are capable of producing many sensations, feelings, different moods and can convey various messages. They even help us express values, situations and our mood beyond our visual perception. The color has been studied by scientists, physicists, philosophers and artists. Each in this field and in close contact with the phenomenon of color has come to different conclusions, which are very similar in some respects and has given rise to further studies. The world is colorful; where there is light there is color. The perception of form, depth and feeling is closely linked to the perception of colors.

The entire thesis will discuss the subject of colors, their history, symbolic importance and significance in history and in general art. The discussion will further aim to study the role of color as a form of expression in Joan Miro's art and paintings. In order to provide a structure to the study, the exploration will be guided through the use of research methodologies, the collection of data through a carefully conducted qualtitative research and the interpretation of the results. It will undertake to examine the colors, their historical significance and their distinctive uses in traditional and modern day digital art.

1.2 Problem Statement

The thesis report is based on the subject of art, its symbolism, history and usage in conventional and modern art.
