Mining is one of the foundations of Chile's economy. In fact the country supplies a third of the world's copper. Its overall safety record, especially at its larger modern mines, is rather good. The August 5 accident, however, occurred at the small San José copper-and-gold mine near Copiapó. The mine is more than a century old. The safety record of its owner, the private firm Compania Minera San Esteban Primera, was reportedly on the spotty side.
The cave-in occurred at a depth of about 1100 ft (335 m). The miners took shelter some 2300 ft (700 m) below the surface. Those figures represent the vertical distance from the surface. The distance through the winding mine from its entrance to the place where the miners found refuge was about 4 1/2 mi (7.2 km).
Considerations to Remember Given the Different Roles and People in the Audience
We all live in relationship, we all communicate in one way or another. It is virtually impossible to survive in total isolation, unrelated. Observing our behavior and the response we get from those around us know if we communicate properly.
Communication is a basic element of society in general. The communication process consists of a multitude of elements, material and human, according to the level of structuring of the society of which we are part. The communication satisfies three basic human needs:
To report or inquire,
Together to achieve common goals, and
Establish relationships.
Who communicate; seek to achieve the satisfaction of needs that prompted them to communicate. This course provides guidance for improving our communication processes with others. Communication is a complex and dynamic process by which a transmitter sends a message to a receiver in the hope of producing in him a certain response (Hughes, 2010).
Objective
As we prepare to prepare an upcoming speech, it is crucial to consider, first, on what is our objective, i.e. what we get and who we want to go. On this basis we decide on the different aspects that end up shaping our actions. So, before thinking about what we mean, we ask three basic questions:
Why do I go to the public?
What do I get?
What do I want people to do or feel after receiving?
The objectives can be classified into:
Report - teaching - training.
Encourage - encourage - motivate.
Persuade - convince.
Check - discuss - negotiate.
Amuse - entertain.
